Person Apprehended for Illegally Transporting Sal Wood in Siliguri

Siliguri, Nov 29, (Siliguri Journal)- Forest officials in Dabgram Range, Baikunthapur Division, successfully stopped a smuggling attempt. They discovered a pickup van carrying precious sal wood hidden under bags of paddy. The forest department has not revealed the arrested driver’s identity during the ongoing investigation.

Acting on a tip-off, the Dabgram Range Forest officials stopped a pickup van loaded with paddy in front of the Dhakeshwari temple near the Eastern Bypass, according to Dabgram Ranger Shyama Prasad Chakladar. Upon inspection, they uncovered smuggled sal wood logs hidden behind the paddy sacks.

The accused was presented in court on Wednesday. Simultaneously, the police are actively investigating the entire incident.
