Siliguri, August 21 (Siliguri Journal) – In a swift operation, undercover officers from Pradhan Nagar police have re-arrested Sunil Tamang, a known habitual offender, in connection with a recent theft.
Reports indicate that a private school near Bhanu Bhakta Chowk in the Gurung Basti area had been closed since August 15. During this time, Tamang allegedly broke a window and stole Rs. 1.87 lakh. Acting swiftly on the complaint, police launched an investigation and cracked the case within 12 hours. Following a tip-off, officers raided Siliguri Junction’s SJDA Market late Tuesday night and arrested Sunil Tamang, recovering Rs. 26,500 from him.
Tamang was presented in Siliguri court on Wednesday, where police sought his remand. The investigation is ongoing to recover the remaining stolen money and to determine if others were involved.
Notably, 29-year-old Sunil Tamang has a lengthy criminal record, with multiple arrests by Pradhan Nagar police. Sources reveal that he has been apprehended seven times by the same police station for various theft-related offenses.
