Siliguri, May 29 (Siliguri Journal) – On Wednesday, the Darjeeling district committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) held a protest, called a ‘dharna’, against the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) in Siliguri.
According to reports, the protest aimed to highlight the challenges faced by Siliguri residents due to disruptions in public services and a perceived decline in law and order. The demonstration, led by prominent CPIM leader Ashok Bhattacharya, took the form of a mass sit-in at Hashmi Chowk (Venus More).
On this day, Ashok Bhattacharya accused the state government of deceiving the people, which prompted the organization of the protest. Notable figures, including Ashok Bhattacharya and Left councilors from various wards, participated in the demonstration.
