Phansidewa, May 04 (Siliguri Journal) – In a big win for the police, they stopped smugglers from sneaking a huge stash of liquor onto a bus bound for Bihar from Phansidewa. They found the alcohol cleverly hidden on the bus’s roof.
Following a tip-off on Friday night, the police searched along the Ghoshpukur National Highway and found the illegal stash on the Siliguri-Patna passenger bus.
The smugglers tried to hide the liquor by stuffing it into bags mixed with snacks. But sharp-eyed officers from Ghoshpukur Outpost spotted the sneaky cargo. While no one has been arrested yet, officials are on it, questioning the bus driver and co-driver as part of their investigation. Sources have disclosed that the seized liquor was meant for smuggling, with plans to transport it to Bihar.
