Siliguri, May 11 (Siliguri Journal) – Over the weekend, Mayor Gautam Deb from Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) went to check out the repairs and cleaning happening at Mahananda Barrage in Fulbari. Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, along with municipal members and other officials, joined him for the inspection.

Reports indicate that purification efforts are underway at the Teesta River, with silt removal operations taking place at Fulbari Drainage Center. It’s expected that this work will wrap up in 15 days. As a result, Siliguri is currently not receiving water from the Teesta River. Instead, the city corporation is tapping into the Mahananda River as the water source and distributing it across different wards of the city.
