Siliguri Drug Smuggling Attempt Leads to Four Arrests

Four arrested in Siliguri drug bust; banned substances seized in coordinated operations, facing legal consequences under NDPS Act.

Siliguri, Jan 07 (Siliguri Journal) – In a big team effort, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), along with the NJP police station and the Panitanki Outpost, stopped a drug smuggling attempt at two places. They caught four people in connection with the case: Swapan Biswas, Sandip Biswas, Manoj Roy, and Kaushik Saha.

On Saturday night, the SOG and NJP police stations stopped and searched a motorcycle in the Naukaghat area near the Biswa Bangla Shilpi Haat. Acting on suspicion, officers found 590 intoxicating injections in the bags of two individuals on the bike. Following the discovery, Swapan Biswas and Sandip Biswas were arrested by the authorities.

In a similar event, the SOG team, together with the Panitanki Outpost police, conducted a tip-off operation in the Mahakal Pally area near Surya Sen Park in Siliguri’s Ward No. 10. Acting on a tip, they stopped a scooter on suspicion and, upon searching, found a significant amount of banned cough syrup in the vehicle. Subsequently, the authorities arrested Manoj Roy and Kaushik Saha in connection to the case.

After the arrests, the police filed a case against all four individuals under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They will be presented in court for legal proceedings.
