Siliguri, Nov 26 (Siliguri Journal) – In a heartbreaking incident, ten stray dogs were reportedly poisoned to death near Rana Basti in Ward No. 18 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC). This upsetting event has sparked strong reactions from upset locals and animal welfare groups in the city.

Reports reveal that the incident unfolded on Saturday night when a concerned local, who often fed the dogs, discovered their absence from their usual spot. After searching for the animals, the person sadly found their lifeless bodies in a nearby sewer. The matter was promptly reported to both an animal welfare organization and the Siliguri police station.

Organization members and police officials quickly responded, arriving at the scene to recover the deceased bodies. Unfortunately, around four stray puppies remain missing. Locals suggest that objections from some residents to the animals under the multi-storey building may have led to this condemnable act. The recovered bodies are undergoing post-mortem examination at the veterinary clinic. Simultaneously, the police are actively investigating the entire incident.
