Two Bangladeshi Found Dead at Indo-Bangladesh Border near Phansidewa

Investigation launched into deaths of Bangladeshi youths near Indo-Bangladesh border amidst suspicions of cross-border activities.

Phansidewa, May 08 (Siliguri Journal) – In Phansidewa, a somber mood hung heavy as two young people from Bangladesh were found near the Indo-Bangladesh border. This discovery has caught the community’s attention, stirring concern.

Reports indicate that on Tuesday night, the two youths tried to cross the border in Phansidewa. Sadly, they faced gunfire, possibly from BSF personnel, leading to their deaths. On Wednesday, locals assembled near the barbed fence in the Fakir Para area, where the tragic incident occurred.

After receiving the alert, officers from the Phansidewa police station quickly arrived, along with BSF personnel, to recover the bodies. The deceased were then taken to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examinations.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the youths might have been engaged in cross-border activities, potentially linked to cattle smuggling. The Phansidewa police station has launched a thorough investigation into the matter.
