Body of Siliguri youth found in Teesta River following a 5-day search

Gour Mandal's Body Recovered from Teesta River - Ongoing Police Investigation Unraveling Circumstances of the Incident.

Siliguri, Jan 09 (Siliguri Journal) – Bhakti Nagar police successfully located the body of Gour Mandal on Monday evening. Gour had jumped from the Sevoke Coronation Bridge into the Teesta River on January 3. The recovery operation took five days, and the officials found the body along the banks of the Teesta River near Laltong Basti.

Following proper identification by the authorities, the deceased’s body has been sent to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for autopsy, as reported. On Tuesday, after the post-mortem examination, the body will be transported to the deceased’s family.

On the evening of January 3, the Sevoke Outpost police discovered a wallet on the Coronation Bridge containing Gour Mandal’s identity card during the case investigation. After contacting Gour’s family, they learned about his plunge into the Teesta River. Consequently, the search for the drowned youth commenced on January 4, extending from the Teesta River to Gajoldoba, with the rescue team diligently pursuing their efforts.

On Monday evening, the youth’s body was found along the banks of the Teesta River. The police have now launched a deeper investigation into the incident.
