Siliguri, May 29 (Siliguri Journal) – On Everest Day, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb and Animesh Basu, a member of the environmental group NEF, have renewed their call to honor Tenzing Norgay with the ‘Bharat Ratna’.

The 29th of May is celebrated as Everest Day. About 71 years ago, in 1953, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary successfully ascended Mount Everest. Since then, Siliguri has commemorated this achievement annually on Everest Day.
