Siliguri, Jun 02 (Siliguri Journal) – The drinking water crisis in Siliguri has been resolved, with purified water now flowing into the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) area since this afternoon. Despite this improvement, residents remain concerned about the water quality.
Mayor Gautam Deb assured the public at a press conference in SMC that the drinking water being supplied since this afternoon is safe for consumption. Following this announcement, water distribution began across various parts of the city. However, residents remain uneasy about the water’s safety.
On May 29, Siliguri faced a water crisis when Mayor Gautam Deb announced that municipal water was unsafe to drink due to quality issues. This led to a serious shortage of drinking water in the city. In response, water tankers were deployed, and water pouches were distributed to residents. Fortunately, the situation improved, and normal water supply resumed by Friday afternoon.
