Bhutanese Citizen Arrested with Illegal Narcotic Tablets and Banned Cough Syrup in Alipurduar

Bhutanese national arrested with large cache of narcotics and banned medicine, investigation underway in Alipurduar.

Alipurduar, May 06 (Siliguri Journal) – Officials from the Jaigaon police station arrested a person from Bhutan named Tshering Norbu (37) for having illegal narcotic tablets and banned cough syrup. Norbu lives in a rented house in the Triveni toll area of Jaigaon.

The arrest happened after a raid at the Jaigaon Triveni toll area on Sunday night, prompted by a tip-off. During the search, officials discovered and confiscated 1,872 intoxicating tablets and 42 bottles of banned cough syrup from the suspect.

The accused person appeared before the Alipurduar court on Monday for legal proceedings. Currently, the Jaigaon police station is conducting a thorough investigation into the entire incident.
