Rajganj, Mar 29 (Siliguri Journal) – In a big political move ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party has gained more than two hundred new supporters, including independent Panchayat members, in Rajganj. This surge marks a significant development for the TMC in the region.
Reports indicate that Madhabi Roy, a Panchayat member representing Mali Para booth number 109 under Majhiali Gram Panchayat in Rajganj block, along with many of her supporters, has officially joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). This significant event took place at the residence of Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy. Present during the joining were key TMC figures including Tapan Bhattacharya, the District Secretary, Rupali Dey Sarkar, the Rajganj Panchayat Samiti President, Ranbir Majumdar, a Zilla Parishad member, Arindam Banerjee, the Rajganj Block President, Sumit Dutta, the Pradhan of Majhiali Gram Panchayat, and others.
Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy addressed the recent developments, acknowledging that misunderstandings during the Panchayat elections led party workers and supporters to contest independently in the past. However, he emphasized the positive return of these members to the party, citing an advantageous position leading up to the Lok Sabha polls. Roy also expressed confidence in TMC candidate Nirmal Chandra Roy, foreseeing a significant victory margin for him in the Jalpaiguri constituency.
