Jalpaiguri, Jan 18 (Siliguri Journal) – On Wednesday evening, residents of Jayanti Para in Ward No. 12 expressed their concerns by submitting a memorandum to Jalpaiguri Kotwali police station. They pointed out that the youth in their community are facing issues with drug and brown sugar addiction. Earlier in the day, 30 people from Jayanti Para visited the SP office to address the rising problem of brown sugar. In the evening, they submitted a memorandum to the police station, highlighting their worries about the youth’s substance abuse.

Residents of Jayanti Para are alarmed as drug and brown sugar addiction seem to have infiltrated from the station premises to the high school grounds. The surge in thefts to fund these addictions has added to the community’s concerns. Women in the area now feel uneasy using that road due to the heightened risks. Faced with these challenges, they felt compelled to approach the police today.

Moreover, they resort to violence against family members if money is not provided. Today, I filed a complaint with the police urging them to take appropriate action.”
