Cooch Behar, Nov 29 (Siliguri Journal) – Local residents in Gopalpur Gram Panchayat, Cooch Behar Block No. 02, put a stop to road construction. They protested the use of low-quality materials in building the road.
Reports indicate that the road from Chowrangi Bazar to Karmakar Para via Hatidhura, part of the Pathashree project, was undergoing reconstruction. However, local residents stopped the construction, expressing dissatisfaction with substandard materials and poor-quality work, even after a prolonged reconstruction period. Additionally, there are complaints that the reconstructed road started deteriorating just a day after completion.
Residents argued that the poorly constructed road would not bring any benefits, emphasizing the need for thorough repair work.
